BIPV is one of the greatest modern inventions the world has known but like all building materials there are always issues related to the architect, the creator, or the engineer. When we consider using the BIPV system for a particular building we must take into account environmental and structural factors and these factors must be taken into account during the design stages when the goal is to achieve the highest possible value for the BIPV system. Among the main considerations of this design for solar systems are access to solar energy, the steering and speed system, electrical properties, and system sizing.

  • Solar Power Access - The fall of solar radiation that reaches the surface of the PV at any given time, determines the potential electrical output of the BIPV system.
  • Guidance and speed system - To reach the maximum possible output of solar energy, the actual orientation of the BIPV system and the angle of inclination of the group should take into account the geographical location of the construction site.
  • Electrical properties — electrical properties closely related to photovoltaic units or groups are summarized in the relationship between current and voltage. The amount and intensity of solar energy controls the electric current as the temperature of the solar cells affects the voltage of the photovoltaic units or groups. Current unit curves and potential difference provide designers with the information they need to configure systems that can operate to reach the optimum peak point of energy as much as possible.
  • Sizing System — Choosing a BIPV type and sizing system includes three main elements: energy loads, aesthetic or architectural considerations, and economic factors. To determine the required power in relation to the rate of the building's BIPV system, the electrical requirements for the building must first be evaluated.
